What happened to Conservation?

Found on Social Media

The State of Washington Department of Fish and Wildlife sends a letter to a home/landowner asking for permission to access a creek on his property to document the decline in a certain species of unheard of frogs.

The property owners’ response in the second letter is EPIC.

Letter from Washington Dept. Of Fish & Wildlife:

Dear Landowner:

WDFWR Staff will be conducting surveys for foothill yellow-legged frogs & other amphibians over the next few months. As part of this research we would like to survey the creek on your property. I am writing this letter to request your permission to access your property.

Recent research indicates that foothill yellow-legged frogs have declined significantly in recent years and are no longer found at half their historic sites. Your cooperation will be greatly appreciated and will help contribute to the conservation of this important species.

Please fill out the attached postage-paid postcard and let us know if you are willing to let us cross your property or not.

If you have any concerns about this project please give us a call. We would love to talk with you about our research.

Sincerely

Steve Niemela

RESPONSE FROM LANDOWNERS:

Dear Mr. Niemela:

Thank you for your inquiry regarding accessing our property to survey for the yellow-legged frog. We may be able to help you out with this matter.

We have divided our 2.26 acres into 75 equal survey units with a draw tag for each unit. Application fees are only $8.00 per unit after you purchase the “Frog Survey License” ($120.00 resident / $180.00 Non-Resident). You will also need to obtain a “Frog Habitat” parking permit ($10.00 per vehicle).

You will also need an “Invasive Species” stamp ($15.00 for the first vehicle and $5.00 for each add’l vehicle) You will also want to register at the Check Station to have your vehicle inspected for Non-native plant life prior to entering our property. There is also a Day Use fee, $5.00 per vehicle.

If you are successful in the Draw you will be notified two weeks in advance so you can make necessary plans and purchase your “Creek Habitat” stamp. ($18.00 Resident / $140.00 Non-Resident).

Survey units open between 8 am. And 3 PM. But you cannot commence survey until 9 am. And must cease all survey activity by 1 PM.

Survey Gear can only include a net with a 2″ diameter made of 100% organic cotton netting with no longer than an 18 in handle, non-weighted and no deeper than 6′ from net frame to bottom of net. Handles can only be made of BPA-free plastics or wooden handles.

After 1 PM. You can use a net with a 3″ diameter if you purchase the “Frog Net Endorsement” ($75.00 Resident / $250 Non-Resident).

Any frogs captured that are released will need to be released with an approved release device back into the environment unharmed.

As of June 1, we are offering draw tags for our “Premium Survey” units and application is again only $8.00 per application.

However, all fees can be waived if you can verify “Native Indian Tribal rights and status”.

You will also need to provide evidence of successful completion of “Frog Surveys” and your “Comprehensive Course on Frog Identification, Safe Handling Practices, and Self-Defense Strategies for Frog Attacks.”

This course is offered on-line through an accredited program for a nominal fee of $750.00.

Please let us know if we can be of assistance to you. Otherwise, we decline your access to our property but appreciate your inquiry.

Sincerely,

Larry & Amanda Anderson.

The Parable of the Cannibals

Turns out Russia is as Racist as US Doctors and Hospitals are. If I were Black I would definitely think all Wyts are Devils. As a member of the group myself, I have to hold out the hope there are Exceptions, hiding out, doing our best to Appear enough like Devils not to be taken away and tortured by those that are.

But I have been wont to ask in the past…

If you woke up in a world of Cannibals, for no apparent reason, just one day there you were, but the Cannibals did not know you were not a Cannibal; to them you seemed like another member of the group. So you would be ‘safe,’ for now. The question is, how many people can you eat, just to keep passing as ‘Normal,’ before you are no longer Passing as a Cannibal, but you ARE one? Is it a fixed number? Is it when it stops grossing you out? Or is that just ‘improved mental health,’ when you stop complaining and get on with the business of life, which is eating people? Is it when you develop affection for the Cannibals? Is it when you want to Mate with one?

HISTORY OF THE ROSENCOMET PROJECT

Jeff Rosenbaum was the founder of what became the Association for Consciousness Exploration. His visions and efforts were instrumental in associated developments.

We started with Jeff’s network of friends, followed by a 1974 Thanksgiving celebration that got us actively working together. Soon we begam meeting on a regular monthly schedule to organize parties, public film showings, etc.

We also held meetings focused on different spiritual traditions at which members and invited guests presented aspects of their spiritual practices. Over time we began calling ourselves the Chameleon Club and, inspired by Robert Anton Wilson’s Illuminatus! Trilogy, took on a Discordian mythos.

By 1978, our parties and events outgrew the space available in our homes and apartments, and we began unsuccessfully exploring the possibility of leasing a store front. By then most of us had graduated and had good paying professional employment. As a result, a couple of dozen of us decided to pitch in about $25 per month to help buy a suitable home for our records, events, etc. A couple of members then bought a suitable house on Lee Rd in Cleveland, OH, backed by our donations; and we began holding our meetings and other events there.

When the last active Chameleon Club members who were Case Western Reserve University (CWRU) students were about to graduate from CWRU, some friends who were CWRU students formed a CWRU group called the Association for Consciousness Exploration (ACE) and got it recognized so we could access CWRU classrooms etc. for free. ACE brought in in speakers and workshop presenters including Timothy Leary, Ray Buckland, Selena Fox, etc.

After Pan Pagan 1980, we decided to create Starwood. Jeff, Joe etc. incorporated the Association for Consciousness Exploration LLC to provide financial protection and the ability to independently enter into contracts, purchase property, etc. Many Chameleons had years of experience organizing major Society for Creative Anachronism (SCA) events, etc. and made the first Starwood happen at Cooper’s Lake, the site of the annual SCA Pennsic War.

Unfortunately, the nudity, sexual openness, etc. at Starwood was too much for the owners of Cooper’s Lake; and we had to find a different location for the next Starwood. When we were informed that a black run nudist resort in Ohio, called Devils Den, was seeking members and participation, we contacted them. After they got to know us, we agreed that instead of nudity being mandatory, we could hold Starwood there as a clothing optional event.

A few years later, ACE began organizing a cold weather retreat called WinterStar, with private cabins for attendees at which various night-time events took place that were not suitable for its central facilities. Cabins included all night drumming, a space jam cabin, one for folk music, many for partying, etc. WinterStar presenters included Robert Anton Wilson and many others.

Eventually, we began leasing the former Masonic ritual temple and associated office space, about two block away from the house. Then, Jeff got use of a big storefront on E 185 St in Cleveland, OH. His parents owned it, and Jeff administered their real estate business from there. We called it the Starwood Center and held our meetings, special events, and Thursday evening drum and music jams there. We no longer needed and stopped renting the a former Masonic Temple and associated office space.

Initially, everyone in ACE was a Chameleon Club member. By 2007, the Chameleon Club stopped bringing in new members. We expanded participation in ACE by bringing in active volunteers as ACE-Associates.

Among other things, Jeff facilitated the recruiting of otherwise expensive speakers by networking to set them up with multiple paid events elsewhere. so they agreed to be affordable for Starwood, Winterstar, etc. Many others joined in the work, taking on various responsibilities and fulfilling them.

Unfortunately, Jeff died in 2014; and we no longer had use of the Starwood Center. We carried on our monthly meetings and making Starwood, Winterstar, etc. happen.

We recently created the Rosencomet Project as a non-profit corporation that now has 501(c)(3) tax exempt status and brought in dozens of members, all of whom were volunteers who had done the work to make our events happen and who were known to be dependable, friends with our members, and interested. Many are relatively young. They are actively organizing and fulfilling their responsibilities as volunteers. When the last original Chameleon Club and ACE member dies, we have enough intelligent and active folks in the Rosencomet Project to continue making good things happen.

Jobs more dangerous than holding citizens hostage as a fucking cop.

I have personally worked at least 3 jobs that were more dangerous than being a Cop, and yet somehow the stress of this does not excuse me murdering people, or even abusing my family. The bar is lower for Cops than any other Adults. Cops never have to get past 12. The thought of them out there with the Right to murder me fires me up, gets me keyed up to show them what for.
